The Dress

This dress was absolutely magnificent. I searched for a used one forever and ended up cutting it too close to the wedding date (as it takes 7 months to be hand beaded), so I bit the bullet and purchased new. I had the intention of reselling from the beginning, so I intentionally had a second dress made for after our first dance. I put on the dress at 2pm and was out of the dress by 10pm when our dance party kicked off lol. I've always heard my bride friends say how they couldn't wait to take their wedding dress off and how uncomfortable they were all day... so I figured I'd be the same. To my surprise I honestly HATED to taking it off. I loved it so much and was so comfortable in it (I like form fitted dresses and it had enough give to move but not too much to feel at all stretchy), but my MOH warned me that it wasn't worth the risk of it being spilt on lol... which she was absolutely right since her and I knew my plan was to sell it. I just wanted a few more moments in heaven wearing it lol. I sound ridiculous but it was that wonderful. :) I hope someone else will feel the same. This dress deserves to share its joy. :)

The cost was as follows for the gown.

Dress Cost: $8,400
Taxes (8%): $672
Alterations: $1,000
*I'd note that alterations on this dress are not cheap. I had them done at Mon Amie (the store I purchased the dress from) and they said because of the beading the cost of alterations was much higher than that of non beaded dresses. Just something to keep in mind. I wasn't really expecting to spend an extra $1000 after already spending so much... so it was a punch to the gut a little.

Total: $10,072

I have it being stored in the original Berta garment bag, then layered in the Mon Amie garment bag and in a sealable air tight bin. The Berta garment bag still has the original tag information/model number attached.

The dress has been altered to my measurements. I've included the lay flat measurements as well. I wore 4 inch heals and it just barely touched the floor. I also removed the shoulder pads.

My Measurements:
Bust: 34.5"
Hips: 38.5"
Waist: 26"
Upper Arm (Circumference): 11"
Height: 5'5" (Gown altered for 5'9" - My height plus 4 inch heels.)

Lay Flat Measurements (Approximate):
Bust: 17.5"
Hips: 17"
Waist: 13"
Arm Length (Shoulder to Wrist): 25"
Upper Arm (Circumference): 5.5"
Wrist: 5.5"
Length - Front (Shoulder to Hem): 61"
Length - Back (Shoulder to Hem): 86"

Please note that there is a 5 point bustle.

Please note that there is a small amount of give in the dress to be form fitted, but the wrist and waist are detailed with a thick tightly beaded strip that does not allow for much wiggle room. My wrist has plenty of room once the dress was on, but the detailing made me go a little slower to get my hand through the opening without tugging on the arm.

More Info:
As mentioned before I wore the dress only for photos, ceremony, dinner, and the first dance/father-daughter dance, so I would keep it in the most pristine condition. The dress as a whole is in excellent / "like new" condition. There was one tiny section on the wrist that started to unravel the second I put it on... so it was not from wear. Luckily I packed a needle and thread and was able to stop the loose thread quickly only losing a couple tiny beads near the inside wrist. Its not at all noticeable, but I want to be upfront and say that the detailing on this dress is no joke. lol. Its hand beaded on a sheer overlay from top to bottom. The beading absolutely has weight to it, but is not too heavy like you feel like it would fall off or that its hard to move. I felt very comfortable in it... but I purposefully did not hug anyone who was also wearing beading or had anything that could potentially snag this gown. That includes shoes! I originally purchased these beautifully ornate heels that had embedded diamond like stones all over and once I tried them on with my second dress and they immediately caught onto the inside of it... I knew I had to return them. You can probably tell I'm type A lol, but as I was searching to buy this gown used originally... I found it hard to gage most of the descriptions... I always was left wanting more info. Anyways, I want to be as upfront as possible. I get that its scary to make such a big purchase ... especially considering you probably don't know what its like to wear a gown such as this one for a full day.... I sure didn't lol. I wasn't sure what to expect even after trying it on a few times in store.
